Vacheron Constantin Overseas – The Value Proposition

Originating from an era of invention and a watch industry looking for new ideas, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas was an answer of design from one of the heaviest watch brands in the world.

As a part of the big three, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe. Each brand has a rich history and a variety of classic models. Overseas stands out as one of Vacheron Constantins most successful models. The Overseas was created in the seventies, with the original reference named “222”. The watch was from the start a sleek automatic piece with an integrated bracelet. Reference 222 was released in 1977 for the brand’s 222nd anniversary. The model was developed further and later given the name Overseas. More than 40 years later, the Overseas has taken a path of unique design, all while staying true to it´s original DNA.

Stories of Time recently acquired one of our favorite models when it comes to modern Overseas. We present to you a second-generation Overseas, reference 49150, rose gold chronograph. Our thoughts for bringing this piece in to our inventory were simple; a wearable gold watch with just the right amount of complications and a well balanced 42mm case. Worn on a rubber bracelet or leather, this piece will stand out without drawing the same attention as a solid gold bracelet watch would. Powered by a reliable VC.1137 movement and with a water resistance of 15 ATM, this watch embodies the spirit of the modern Overseas series without an excessive price tag. All while working as an everyday watch for “those in the know”.
